Photo was taken on Bere Island, West Cork (Irl)

Bere Island in the heart of West Cork scooped another award in the National Tidy Towns Competition, with the winners announced this week. This is the 5th year in a row it has won this section of the competition. With Ardnakinna Lighthouse looking splendid as with other parts of the island, it is easy to see how it keeps getting top marks.

'Were your faith the size of a mustard seed you could say to this mulberry tree: Be uprooted and planted in the sea and it would obey you.' ~Luke 17:5-6

We can all remember the first time we were able to cycle or swim unaided. A great feeling! There was a lot of faith, a lot of trust, a bit of risk but in the end well worth it. How does one describe faith? St.Ignatius described it well when he said, "Faith is the beginning and the end is love and God brings the two of them together." Only faith can answer the most profound questions of life. It gives hope and meaning to life. It doesn't mean we have all the answers. Faith is all about trust and at the end of the day it is all about a relationship with God. One never looses ones faith but one can stop shaping our lives by it. It also happens to be the greatest power in the world and that's why Jesus compared it to a mustard seed. It is so small that you could hardly hold it in your fingers and yet it grows into a fine big tree. With faith what looks impossible can becomes possible.
