A stream bubbles and cascades with life as it journeys down through a forest walk.

'The pace of modern life is accelerating to the point of dizziness. Do we look at the seasons changing? Did we notice the change of the summer warmth to the cool autumn air every morning and recognise that winter is not too far away? If not, take time to stand, stare and rejig those priorities.' ~Róisín Fulham

There is no denying that modern life is busy and active. Technology allows us to connect to each other in an instant. Mobile phones, email and social networking sites are today a way of life. Despite our ability to connect with each other through technology we have lost our connectedness in so many other ways including the beauty of the present moment. Because we rush and race, we sometimes miss the beauty that is within our reach. Going to places like Gougane Bara during the month of September is always a treat. There is so much to see and do and every visit allows us to connect with the gentle presence of God all around. At the moment it is my privilege to take groups of young people from Transition Year to Gougane Barra and the experience allows them connect to many things outside their everyday experience. Even if we can't get to places like Gougane Barra, there are many things we can do to help us connect with what's really important in life. The biggest challenge is to know the difference between the junk moments and the ones that really matter.
