'A friend is the one who comes in when the whole world has gone out.' ~E DeWitt Jones

During world war 1 two young soldiers became close friends. One night during battle one of them went missing. The other friend asked for permission to go and search for his friend. The commanding officer granted permission but added: "It's not worth it. Your friend is probably dead by this time and you will throw your life away." The young soldier crawled out at the peril of his life to help his friend. Some time later, he returned, dragging the body of his dead comrade and he himself mortally wounded. He looked up at the commanding officer and said with joy: "Sir, it was worth it. When I reached him he looked at me and told me: "I knew you'd come."
