Local communities are immensely proud of their sporting heroes. The community of Kealkill/Coomhola are very proud of their own Libby Coppinger who plays with Cork in the All Ireland Ladies Camogie final tomorrow against Kilkenny in Dublin. They have bunting and flags up at all the crossroads in the area.

Thought For The Week

Many schools reopened after the summer holidays during the past few days. All schools will reopen today Monday. Everyone is returning to school relaxed, refreshed, recharged and ready to go. Lots of stories were swapped and shared during the week about the summer break. The big talking point of course was the fabulous weather. The following is one of the prayers we are using in school. The prayer may not apply to you but an appropriate prayer at this time might be one to include someone you know who is going to school or someone returning to College at this time.

A back to school prayer for start of new school year
Loving God, our creator, our friend, our companion, bless the journey of our new school year that we undertake today. Bless our teachers and friends as we make our way back to the classrooms for another year. Help everyone to feel the excitement and joy in the promise of a new start. Give us everything we need to start our classes.

Give us imagination and creativity to make wonders out of what we do have. We ask you to refresh our souls and renew our spirits. We welcome those who are new to our school community and may they settle in well during the coming days and weeks. Strengthen all of us to share the wonderful gifts you have given to each of us. We ask you to gently guide and direct everyone each day in your loving care. We ask this in your name. Amen
