Today is Daffodil Day across Ireland. The Daffodil is in full bloom in all our gardnens at the moment and is a great sign of hope as spring really begins to take hold. Our Thought For Today below explores Daffodil Day a bit more.
‘My cancer scare changed my life. I’m grateful for every new, healthy day I have. It has helped me prioritise my life.’ ~Olivia Newton-John
Today is Daffodil Day across Ireland with thousands of Euros being raised for the Irish Cancer Society. The daffodil is used today because it is a flower of hope. It is found in every garden at this time of year and is full of life and colour. Cancer affects one in three people. There are over 200 different types of cancer; each has a specific name, treatment and chance of being cured. Cancer is sometimes known as ‘The Dreaded C’ but today is also a day of promise and hope. We so often hear of bad news but never enough of all the stories with happy endings. When you buy a daffodil today know that your money is going to a great cause, helping patients and families affected by cancer. We pray for all those who have cancer, we pray for doctors, nurses and carers and we pray especially today for God’s healing.
