A stamp of the late Pope John Paul II in his native country Poland

The beatification of Pope John Paul II took place yesterday. Our thought for today touches in on this significant occasion.

‘For John Paul it was clear that the more you focus on God, the more you focus on what it is to be human, and vice versa. The two things are linked.’ ~Brend√°n Leahy

Yesterday all eyes were on Rome for the Beatification of Pope John Paul II. While some have been critical of the speed at which Pope John Paul II is being beatified, it was clear that on his death six years ago, the process was not going to be delayed. Even during his funeral Mass in St.Peter’s square, a cry went up chanting “Santo Subito” (Make him a saint straight away). One and a half million people turned up yesterday to see the ceremony in Rome. The miracle of a French nun’s recovery from Parkinson’s disease was mentioned during the beatification. It is clear that he brought many blessings to thousands of people wherever he went. His momentous world tour took him to 129 different countries, a feat which will be hard to beat. One of his many lovely sayings was “The future starts today, not tomorrow.” We ask his blessings on all of us today.
