Even at the start of November these flowers were very eyecatching on the seafront at Torquay. When it seems there is nothing much in colour at this time of year, nature always throws a lovely surprise.

‘When it comes to doing any task there are always three choices. We can either give up, give in or give it our all’ ~Author Unknown
There were great celebrations last night in the Aviva Stadium as Ireland qualified for Euro 2012 which takes place in Poland and the Ukraine. Ireland has not taken part in this competition for 24 years. Only the best teams can qualify and our turn at long last has come. The hardest part of the job was done last Friday when they beat Estonia 4-0 away from home. Huge praise has rightly surrounded this team and management. There has been much talk about the lift it will give to our country and this is so true. There have been many dark and depressing days in recent years. This is a genuine good news story and at its heart is how this team never gave up or gave in but simply gave it their all. It has paid off spectacularly and everyone can now look forward to the summer of 2012 when this Irish team will do everyone proud. We thank God today for the gift of sport and in particular how it can unite and uplift. We thank God too for this Irish team who simply give it their all. It’s all any of us can do too as we journey through life.
