Photo was taken yesterday in Millstreet GAA hall, Co.Cork (Irl)
Daniel McSweeney was taking part in the county semi final of Scór Na bPáistí yesterday. He was part of a group representing Rosscarbery GAA and they put together a sketch on the Titanic. Their sketch focussed on three families who said goodbye to loved ones when the Titanic visited Queenstown (Cobh) back in 1912. This was the last port of call for the Titanic. The sketch made it through to the final which takes place at the end of the month.

‘If you really want to get yourself in trouble, act like you don’t know, when you know that you know!’ ~Iyanla Vanzant
It is surprising how we often let on that we don’t know. But in our hearts we know what we should and need to be doing. When we say we don’t know, it usually means we are washing our hands of it, we’re not interested and it’s somebody else’s problem. In our Gospel stories the parable of the Good Samaritan is a good example. Those most likely to help the traveller who was beaten, robbed and left half dead on the road were the ones who kept going. They may have had genuine reasons and for them it was easier to let on they didn’t know the stranger at the side of the road. There are many situations in life when we also know what we need to do and sometimes we know what we must stop doing. It often takes courage and conviction to stand up for we know to be the truth or the right thing to do. We pray today for the courage to make the right decision. We also pray for the ability to discern what we should and need to be doing. Lent is always a good time to make a start somewhere especially when we know what needs to be done.
