The story of this humble wife and mother who never learned to read or write but became the spiritual confidante of great figures in secualar society and the Church is remarkable one by any standards.

She was an Italian and married Domenico Taigi. Like any married couple they went through many ups and downs including the death of one of their children. As time went on Anne’s influence began to spread out from her home in practical charitable works such as working with batterd wives, the sick and dying in hospitals, counselling and so on. She came into contact with people like Marie Louise De Bourbon, daughter of the Queen of Spain whom Anne is said to have cured of leprosy. Napoleon’s mother was also said to have visited.

After her death (1837) her friends and disciples began gathering testimonies to the holiness of her life almost immediately. Much was gathered from people who had known her including carindals, nobles and perhaps even the pope. She waw beatified in 1920
