Photo was taken last night in St.Patrick’s Church, Millstreet, Co.Cork (Irl)
A moment of action from last night’s Teen Spirit Concert with young people taking part from the parishes of Millstreet, Dromtariffe, Rathmore, Boherbue and Ballydesmond. They sang to a packed church and everyone was delighted with the night. Words like ‘uplifting’, ‘brilliant’, ‘so talented’, ‘so glad I came’ could be heard as people left the church after the concert last night. Congrats to everyone involved for a night to remember.

‘Out of the blue, when it wasn’t even close to bedtime, my six year old son said, “It’s not that I’m afraid to go to sleep without Petey, (his stuffed bedraggled dog), it’s just that I sleep better when he is with me.’ ~Amy Welbourn
We all like to hold onto something when we are afraid, fearful and unsure. No matter what our age we all have our small anchors that hold us still. These small anchors often have a firm and surprising hold. It might be a special friendship, a favourite prayer, a medal, a pet, holy water, a photograph, a memorial card, a rosary bead, a candle, a piece of music, our garden or a favourite walkway.
The list is endless but your small anchor is the one that matters. It may not look spectacular, it might not work for someone else but what really matters is that it works for you. Treasure your small anchor. It is God’s gift to you. It helps to make today possible and helps to make it a good day as it can be. Even if you feel like you are drifting along in life, you can always reach out and put down your anchor. A natural response might be: “But sure I don’t have any. Why bother?” God’s response will always be the same: “I will always be your anchor. Put your trust in me. Do not be afraid.”
