Bitterly cold weather across Ireland and western Europe has taken many by surprise as we head towards the middle of March. Clearly spring is very much on hold for a while!

‘How often, you wonder, has the direction of your life been shaped by such misunderstandings? How many opportunities have you been denied or for that matter, awarded because someone failed to see you properly? How many friends have you lost, how many have you gained, because they glimpsed some element of your personality that shone through for only an instant, and in circumstances you could never reproduce’ ~Kevin Brockmeier
There is a story about a motorcycle cop who drew up alongside a car and was astonished to see that it was being driven by an elderly lady steering with her elbows so that her hands were free to do her knitting. The policeman shouted “Pull Over Madam”, “No officer”, she shouted back. “It’s a cardigan”. There are many times in life when misunderstandings occur. Some can be funny, some minor and some can be very serious. It is good to be aware and to be sensitive to how misunderstandings can occur. People often can misinterpret or misread what we are saying. In our Gospels misunderstanding often surrounded Jesus and what he stood for. In the end it cost him his life. Lord we pray today to be more aware and sensitive in what we say and do.
