The martyrs of Uganda are remembered today. Killed with members of other Christian Churches, they were directly victims of an exceptionally cruel ruler but it was also indireclty of the fear of loss of a way of life felt by native socities faced with an influx of white missionaries and colonizers.
One of the Ugandan Martyrs who died said the following:
“A well that has many sources never runs dry. When we are gone, others will come after us.”
