I am sharing this photo again today. It was taken last week at Bantry, West Cork (Irl)

This was the view out over Bantry Bay on the ‘B√©icin Walk’ at dawn last week

While out for an early morning walk last week along the seafront in Bantry, I was impressed with a beautiful display of moonlight along the sea. Its beauty stopped me in my tracks, knowing that the moment was going to be brief, in transition between dawn and a new day.

It got me thinking that the moon is not the source of the light but is simply reflecting the light of the sun. The closer we are to a full moon the greater the light reflected and the closer we are to a new moon the less light is reflected.

We are also called to reflect light. The invitation of Advent is to reflect God’s light to others, to reflect our beautiful light and to reflect as much good news as we possibly can. The source of our light is to be found within the stable at Bethlehem, in a new born baby lying in a manger. What a beautiful source of light and hope. Christmas reminds us that when we reflect even a little of this light our world is always a better place.
