This is the month when you can get so many contrasts with the weather. One day it can be beautiful sunshine and then the next can be frost and showers of hail. But it is always a delicate time for those fragile shoots when they push the first leaves forward.

On This Day

On April 5th 1923 Firestone became the first tyre company to start producing inflatable tyres that would transform the motor industry

Interesting Quote for Today

“Life is a flower of which love is the honey.” ~Victor Hugo

Saint For Today: St. Vincent Ferrer and he is the patron saint of builders because of his fame for building up and strengthening the Church: through his preaching, missionary work, in his teachings, as confessor and adviser.

Significance of Today It is part of April 5th but this month of April has been also called Poetry Month. It is all about exploring the ways that the written word is able to communicate to the world in beautiful forms. From old to new, National Poetry Month aims to celebrate the art of poetry in all of its forms, appreciating the history behind it as well as the future that is yet to be seen.

Did You Know: Did you know trees can communicate?
Trees talk. Their roots are connected through an underground network of fungi, nicknamed the “Wood Wide Web,” that allows them to share resources with each other. They “talk” by transmitting nutrients to one another through the fungi. For instance, a mother tree, or oldest and strongest tree in the forest, will share some of her sugars with smaller, nearby trees.

Thought For The Week

‘One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon – instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.’ ~Dale Carnegie

A young man went to a Rabbi and asked, “How can I love God with my whole heart, since I see that there are bad parts in my heart too.” The Rabbi replied, “Well it seems you will have to love God with the bad parts too!”

We are often our own worst critics. We put ourselves down easy. We seldom give ourselves enough credit for all the roses blooming in our own lives. We tend to see the bad parts first and we almost magnify them. We allow them to choke out the roses. It’s time to throw away the magnifying glass as we head towards Holy Week. Yes we all have faults, weaknesses and limitations but we don’t have to magnify them.
