I took this photo in the Phoenix Park, Dublin

The Phoenix Park in Dublin is a massive green space, in the middle of a big city. It has a perimeter wall of  11 kilometres or 6.8 miles which is impressive. It has a total of 1,750 acres and so many walkways within. This particular walkway is very close to Heuston Train Station in Dublin.

Significance of Today

Today is I Love To Write Day.  Writing is not just for acclaimed authors. This special day is celebrated by many to encourage us to write something, from novels for the inspired, to poetry, to writing into your local newspaper, or even more important to write a letter to someone. The aim is to get people to sit down and put something on paper or on a computer, however short and in whatever style, kick-starting their writing and giving them confidence through being part of a global movement.

Interesting Quote For Today

‘If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time or the tools to write. Simple as that.” ~Stephen King

Spiritual Thought For The Week

(The Spiritual Thought For The Week is updated each Monday)

Most of us go through periods in our lives, especially after difficulties of some kind, when our faith seems to disappear or fade away to a weak shadow of what it was previously.”~Saint Martin magazine

For the past week we have seen little sunshine here in Cork. It’s been dry and mild but not even a few hours of sunshine has come our way. During these dark days of November, it is sometimes hard to see everything at its best.

The same can be said when it comes to our spiritual lives. We all hit those days when even our faith seems distant, out of touch and even irrelevant. What gave strength and meaning at one stage of our lives seems to fall short at another stage.

And this is ok. It is ok because it happens to everyone including the saints. If you read the life story of any saint you will inevitably read about the stage in their life where they struggled. Words like ‘desert’, ‘barren’, ‘dry’, ‘meaningless’ and other similar words will be used to describe the experience.

So we are certainly not on our own when it happens to us. It might be tempting to give up, but even the heaviest of fog or darkness will always lift. The words of Jesus, “Be not afraid” are the only words we need to hold, when it seems the clouds and darkness are slow to lift.
