Photo was taken at Bandon, Co.Cork (Irl)
Last Tuesday there was a photo called ‘Blossom Potential’ on this website.(It can be seen on the archive). Todays photo is the result of such potential. Despite a sweeping cold breeze coming down from the north at the moment, the cherry tree is still determined to show its full colour.

When they drew near to the village to which they were going, he made as if to go on; but they pressed him to stay with them. ‘It is nearly evening’ they said ‘and the day is almost over.’ So he went in to stay with them. Now while he was with them at table, he took the bread and said the blessing; then he broke it and handed it to them. And their eyes were opened and they recognised him; but he had vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, ‘Did not our hearts burn within us as he talked to us on the road and explained the scriptures to us?’ ~Luke 24:20-24
The story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus is one of the most famous of the Resurrection stories. It’s a story that touches all our stories. We can relate to their sadness, to their sense of gloom and how their heads were down. Life as we know has its struggles and we’ve all been there. Central to the story of the two disciples on their journey to Emmaus is how they found God in their pain and sadness. We sometimes expect to find God only in happy and joyful times. The disciples had in a sense lost everything. They had lost faith and they had thrown the towel in. But that was the turning point. Jesus tocuhed their sadness. He walked with them in their pain. They talked about their heart burning. This was the moment they knew they were loved by God. The Resurrection is always a turning point. We are never on our own even during those difficult and impossible days.
