These flowers were still letting their lovely presence felt in some Autumn sunshine and in between the showers!

‘No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet, death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it and that is how it should be because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It is life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new.’ ~Steve Jobs (1955-2011)

Glowing tributes poured in yesterday for the late Steve Jobs. He was the mastermind behind an empire of products that revolutionised computing and the music industry. Despite some major setbacks in his life, he used them as stepping stones to something much greater. His battle with pancreatic cancer was probably the greatest challenge of his life. While many fear death he was much more reflective. He reflected that death was a natural part of life, part of a continuing cycle of replacing old with new. He talked about how our time is limited, how we waste time instead of maximising everything we have. In all the tributes yesterday the one constant link was how he changed the lives of so many. He embraced change; he was not afraid of change and thrived on new beginnings. We are often afraid and fearful of change. His life is an example of the blessings that change can bring and a reminder that life is at its best when lived to the full.
