Significance of Today
Today is World Sandwich Day. It is about appreciating the simplicity of a good sandwich. There is certainly something special about your favourite bits and pieces piled high between two slices of delicious bread.
There is actually a place in England called Sandwich. It was here that John Montagu became the fourth Earl of this particular little English town. John was a well-known lover of card games. It is said that he originally ordered his meat to be delivered to him between two slices of bread so that he would not get his grease laden fingers on the card, nor require a fork to eat. And so we have the word sandwich today.
Quote For Today
“Do what you feel in your heart to be right―for you’ll be criticized anyway.” ―Eleanor Roosevelt
Did You Know
Did you know blinking could serve as mental rest, not eye lubrication? The intuitive reason why humans blink so much, 15 to 20 times per minute, is for eye lubrication. But research suggests that it’s actually to give our brains a break.

Thought For The Week
‘I wrote your name on the sand but the waves washed it away. I wrote your name on the sky but the wind blew it away. I wrote your name on my heart and forever it will stay.’ ~Author Unknown
It is always difficult to understand death or make sense of the loss of a loved one through death. We want our loved ones with us always and yet we know that just as we are born we must also die. Yesterday (Nov 2nd) is traditionally known as All Souls Day and is a day to pause, reflect and pray for those who have died, particularly our nearest and dearest. We continue to celebrate All Souls Day today Sunday.
Many people will visit a cemetery today or some part of this month. It is not an empty or meaningless task. It’s always good to remember those who have died. Our belief is that death is not an end but a beginning for the soul or spirit of the person who has died. Our belief is that our loved ones who have died are still near us but not physically with us. Trying to put this into words is never easy.
The only words that really matter today are to our loved ones who have died. Some of these words might be: we still miss you, thank you for so many memories, you are remembered with love today and you will never be forgotten.
Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord. May perpetual light shine on them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy and love of God, rest in peace Amen
